Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the development and internal consistency of Ellen G. White’s soteriology by comparing her two major works, Bible Sanctification (1882) and Steps to Christ (1892), within the historical context of the 1888 Minneapolis General Conference. The study employs a qualitative method using a theological-historical and comparative approach to analyze both texts. The findings indicate that White’s core soteriological framework remains consistent, presenting salvation as God’s grace received through faith and manifested in sanctification and character transformation. The differences between the two works lie primarily in their emphasis: Bible Sanctification focuses on doctrinal clarification against legalism and antinomianism, whereas Steps to Christ adopts a more pastoral and relational approach. The study concludes that these differences reflect adjustments to audience and purpose rather than doctrinal change, reinforcing a balanced Adventist understanding of grace, faith, and obedience.
